Kitty is an illustrator and printmaker whose character based work is both colourful and playful with the suggestion of an uneasy back-story.  Recent works include paintings based on female characters from ‘Columbo’ and ‘Murder, She Wrote’, and screenprints inspired by the scandalous Maria Scratton, a 19th century working class woman who married the Lord of the Manor of Prittlewell in Essex. Oakley graduated in illustration from Brighton University, before gaining the MA in children’s book illustration from Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge, where she later became an associate lecturer.
